TRUTHWITCH TUESDAY: It's coloring time!

TRUTHWITCH TUESDAY

Welcome to yet another #TruthwitchTuesday! Hard to believe that it's only 77 days until release day, isn't it? Holy sea foxes, time just keeps flying by! And talking of sea foxes... we have a special and really rather fun #TruthwitchTuesday for you this week. How are your coloring skills? Because it's competition time!

In Truthwitch, a sea fox is a mythological creature. Now you can color your own in a bid to win the awesome grand prize of a signed TRUTHWITCH ARC. Even better, you get to choose which version of the ARC you'd like if you win! And yes, the competition is INTERNATIONAL, so everyone and anyone can join in on the fun!

How about a little snippet of the not-so-mythological sea fox first?

"When Ryber had described a sea fox, this was not what Safi had imagined.
And she definitely didn't imagine that it would scream like the souls of the damned. A thousand layers screeched from the monster's mouth -- and then screeched from a second monster now towering over the Jana nearby."

Yikes. Sounds scary, right? Now, scroll down to see the special piece of art I've drawn especially for this week's #TruthwitchTuesday! (Ahh!!)

Behold! The mighty sea fox. All ready for you to print out and color.

Prize

  • One signed ARC of TRUTHWITCH. You can choose which version of the ARC you would like -- UK or US.

Rules

  • Contest is open internationally!
  • You can either color the picture in digitally or traditionally. Any media is completely fine. (I left the circle blank so you can put the Waterwitch symbol in yourselves! ;) )
  • To enter, you must post a link to where you have shared the colored picture in the comments section of this post along with your name and Twitter username.
  • When uploading the image or photo, please use the tag #MySeaFox. And if possible, a link back to this post. (So others can join in on the fun as well!)
  • Give your sea fox a name! And if you want to, tell us all about him/her. Go nuts!
  • Entrants must be in by MONDAY NOVEMBER 2ND at 12PM EST. You have two weeks! Ready, set, color!

Fun fact: I originally drew the fox back in early May, just before I read Truthwitch. Here's a few snaps of the drawing before I tweaked it for digitalization . Is this the true color of a sea fox? That would be telling. ;)

Meet Bubblenugget, my sea fox. Name affectionately given by my four year-old cousin. Bubblenugget apparently lives on a diet of blue LEGO and bullies. (Cousin, what a dark mind you have already. I mean... LEGO?! What a monstrous creature!)

Have fun, guys! We're INCREDIBLY excited to see the finished entries!!!

She can also be very mischievous, and will if given a chance, will play tricks you.

  5. Meet Jemima Loraine, she is a hip young aspiring sea fox actress. Pictured below, is Jemima's audition photo to be The Sea Fox in Sooz's amazing book! As you can see, Jemima has given her own spin to the scary sea fox Sooz writes about. She added a sparkly pink feather boa, big diva eyelashes, and her favorite color scheme (it really compliments her hair). Jemima is a total waterwitch babe ;)

Decided to go for a hybrid of fox and sea dragon. His name is Starlight and he's BFFs with my dragon Norbert, who inspired the scales. Together, they will one day rule the world.

  11. Nicola, your drawing skills are fantastic! I can't believe how intricate your sea fox sketch is! My Sea Fox is Queen Rohanna. Yes THAT Queen Rohanna, the one who massacred all that fruit in '569. She's running for Chief of the Sea Fox Council (in addition to her role as monarch) and would appreciate feedback on her campaign photo:https://twitter.com/AudreyMcDelenci/status/659559315934732288

  17. Here's my Sea Fox, Admiral Theodore Manson: https://twitter.com/DreamsLeadYouOn/status/660896185243344896. Born into a community of other young sea foxes, Admiral was raised learning how to fight (and win) his way to the top of the pecking order. Devouring everything that fell into his path, Admiral spent his life solidifying himself as his namesake would suggest - commander of the seas. However, Admiral's slaughtering sprees weighed heavily upon him, and Admiral began searching for other means of entertaining himself. He soon found himself digging through the sea floor and dancing through seaweed. But most of all, Admiral found he loved sneaking to the surface to discreetly blow bubbles along the waves. Should any unfortunate ship sail past during these bubble blowing escapades, the crew would find themselves at the bottom of the sea (or in the belly of a sea fox). After all, Admiral still has a reputation to maintain. ;)

P.S. Thank you so much for this competition! Coloring my sea fox was so incredibly therapeutic and necessary for maintaining my sanity :)

Thank you, Nicola for this unique contest! After many attempts colouring and painting sea foxes, I had to think out of the box. I hope that you enjoy my crafty creation. :)

  22. I proud to present the result of an almost two week fight with colour choices, name-giving and glue! This is my seafox, Arcoris

The legend of this seafox begins long ago, when a seafox of the rain one day met a seafox of the sun. They joined in a dance of storm and created a daughter. But the storm led them both astray and their newborn was left in a homeless alley, in a deep lake, and without the chance to get over the hills to swim in the ocean. One day a Waterwitch wandered into this valley, and met the lonely seafox. The seafox, who longed for company, accepted the witch. After spending years together, the witch noticed that whenever rain and sun met, the seafox turned wild and crazy with longing. One day, the witch disapperead, and the seafox was so sad, so sad. But three months later, she returned with a large company. Waterwitches of all kinds had joined her to help the seafox return to home. When the sky had just opened and poured down its tears, and sun was beginning to shine, all the waterwitches gathered around the seafox and began to pull at the lake. Higher, higher and higher the water went, and the seafox with it. At last, everyone put all of their power into a single push, and the seafox flied into the sky. All that was left was beautiful colours, shaped like a seafox. Until this day, we can still see the lights in the sky after sun and rain meets, and if you are fast enough, you might be able to see the seafox, roaring through the sky to meet its parents!

Her name is Safiya Von Seafox haha and she's totally Safi's alter ego from the deep depths of the ocean. Just imagine a badass seafox swimming around and saying "Thrice-damned hell-flaming weasels whose mothers were spineless artichokes." whenever it's appropriate (or not so apporpriate because who cares?)
